Greetings from Director
Hello, my name is Jennifer Kim, and I am excited to announce the opening of Avocado Montessori Academy in this beautiful city of Bellevue.
I am a certified Montessori teacher/teacher trainer of 19 years. Since becoming licensed in 2003, my Montessori journey has taken me to unique adventures and unexpected discoveries in Canada, California, and Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Maria Montessori was a keen observer, and all of her knowledge and wisdom about children came from her day-to-day observations. I believe each child holds the key to unlocking their potential when we let them.
I also believe in partnership with the parents because we are the most critical environment for children's cognitive and social-emotional development.
I enjoy gardening, running, and reading when I am not at school.
I am grateful to be part of the new journey AMA embarks on and ready to grow with the children and families I will meet!

Greetings! I am Coco, the founder of Avocado Montessori. Hailing from the coastal city of Tianjin in northern China, I moved to Seattle in 2010. My transformative journey into Montessori education began with the arrival of my first daughter, sparking a profound desire to connect with her on a deeper, more personal level beyond conventional parenting roles.
In 2018, driven by my passion and commitment, I embarked on a rigorous training course, earning the AMS certification from the Montessori Education Institute of the Pacific Northwest. This training solidified my dedication to observing and nurturing young minds, tailored to their individual needs and interests.
At Avocado Montessori, we warmly welcome parents to join our community. It is an honor to be entrusted with the opportunity to spend invaluable moments with your children, fostering their growth and embarking on a shared journey of exploration and learning.
Hi, my name is August Teng. I am an AMS 0-3 & 3-6 trained Montessori teacher and have been working in Montessori schools since 2018. In 2021, I moved back to Shanghai from Seattle and had worked as a Montessori toddler lead teacher in Shanghai Montessori schools.
By guiding students to help them reach their potential at their own pace, I have continually used my inherent passion for fostering collaborative and engaging environments to nurture productive, thoughtful, and self-motivated young students. Through encouraging independence and a love of learning, I am amazed and humbled by the transformations that happen in young children.
It is truly my pleasure to join AMA.

Hi everyone! My name is Hannah, I’m an AMI 0-3 &3-6 trained Montessori educator, I’ve been a part of Montessori since 2016. The first time that I discovered the Montessori approach when I was doing an observation in a school and became passionate about this philosophy, so I decided to devote myself to my passion since then. I’ve always enjoyed working with children over the last 6 years. I’m very excited to join our Avocado family this year, to share both language and cultured with our little ones, providing them with positive and meaningful experience in the environment.
In my spare time, I enjoy outdoors, cooking, knitting, and exploring nature with my family and my dog Juju!
Ao Zhang, primary class Co-Lead Teacher in Avocado Class.
With a degree in broadcasting and an early childhood Montessori credential, Ao Zhang works in our primary Avocado classroom. “As the mom of two young kids, I understand what children need, how they think, and how they feel,” she said. Before joining AMA, Ao worked at a Montessori school for five years; even earlier than that, she was a correspondent for a Beijing TV station. Her favorite part of AMA is that it feels like a family. Outside of the classroom, Ao enjoys playing the piano and doing photography. With family on two different continents, Ao loves to travel and camp around the Seattle area.
Hello, My name is Joy, and I am excited to join Avocado Montessori Academy. I'm originally from South Korea, where I used to work as a social worker. After I moved to Seattle 5 years ago, I decided to pursue my passion in early childhood education. While taking the Montessori teacher training, I fell in love with the Montessori method. I have been working in a Montessori classroom for three years now, including two years as a lead teacher. I love observing each child and figuring out what they need to be successful. I believe that all children deserve to be happy and enjoy learning independently. The Montessori method respects and guides children differently from traditional education.
I'm confident that your children will benefit from their experiences here at AMA, and I look forward to working with them.
Hello! I'm Noelle, a dedicated educator with a background in child development. I graduated from a university in South Korea with a degree in early childhood education.
Having spent four years working in preschool settings in Korea, I gained valuable experience in fostering a nurturing learning environment for young minds. Seeking new challenges, I ventured to the United States to enhance my English skills, and it was during this time that I discovered my passion for Montessori education.
Inspired by the Montessori philosophy and methods, I pursued in-depth studies and completed a year-long internship after finishing my Montessori training.
Now, as a certified Montessori educator and a proud member of AMA, I am excited to bring my diverse background and expertise to create an enriching and engaging learning experience for our children!

Hello! My name is Abigail and I am excited to be part of the Avocado Montessori Academy team. I love working with children and seeing them learn and grow both in their studies and in their personhood, so I am lucky to have landed here. I earned my BA in Humanities for Teaching from Seattle University, so I have been dedicated to helping children thrive for several years. As someone born in China, I am thrilled to be in an environment filled with so much Asian culture, and to be in the Chinese classroom. It is such a pleasure to share customs with our young learners and to help affirm them in their identities while also broadening their world view. Hello, my name is Caity and I am very excited to begin my journey at AMA. I graduated from Oregon State University in June 2023 with a BA in science. I majored in biology with a pre-education option. Previously, I worked at Linn-Benton Community College where I was an assistant volleyball coach and a tutor in psychology, chemistry, and biology. I have always loved working with kids and I am passionate about supporting the development of their purpose, identity, and self-regulation. Outside of the classroom I enjoy playing volleyball, making puzzles, and gardening.
My name is Jay. I have BA degree in Piano Education from Catholic University in South Korea. I have owned and directed Preschool Art Center in Korea for 12 years before I came to USA with my family. That experience gave me a fundamental understanding of the children education. As a mother of a college student, I had another 20 years’ experience of nurturing him. That experience also provided me deeper understanding of the child’s potential development. Now, as an AMA assistant teacher, I am utilizing those experiences to nurture and guide the children develop their potential to the fullest. I truly love AMA children.
