Greetings!
I am Coco, the principal of the Avocado Montessori Academy. Originally from the coastal city of Tianjin in northern China, I moved to Seattle in 2010.
My journey into Montessori education began with the arrival of my first daughter, igniting a profound desire to connect with her on a deeper, more personal level beyond conventional parenting roles. This led me to explore alternative parenting methods, ultimately discovering the Montessori philosophy. I deeply appreciate its principles of following the child and providing them with sufficient freedom within limits. Intrigued, I decided to earn the AMS certification from the Montessori Education Institute of the Pacific Northwest to gain a comprehensive understanding of this educational approach.
With over seven years of experience in education, I have had the privilege of working with many groups of students and educators, witnessing firsthand the transformative power of quality education. I deeply enjoy spending time with children and have spent most of my career in the classroom as the lead teacher. In 2023, I transitioned to the administration team, allowing me to work closely with parents and focus on school’s management.
The name "Avocado" represents more than just a fun or healthy choice; it embodies our school's core values: Independence, Empathy, and Responsibility. The avocado's strong skin symbolizes children's independence, its soft flesh represents their empathy, and its hard seed signifies their sense of responsibility. Just as the avocado's seed grows into beautiful branches and leaves, we aspire for each child who graduates from Avocado Montessori to flourish wherever they go.
We will continue to build on the strong foundation for which this school is known, embracing new opportunities for growth and development.
We warmly welcome parents to join our community. It is an honor to be entrusted with the opportunity to spend invaluable moments with your children, fostering their growth and embarking on a shared journey of exploration and learning.
Coco
Principal

Hi, I’m August.
I began my journey in Montessori education in 2018 at a bilingual Montessori school, where my passion for working with young children truly took root. After earning my Montessori Preschool (3–6) teaching credential, I became deeply interested in the early developmental foundations of learning. This led me to pursue Montessori Infant and Toddler (0–3) teacher training, which I completed in 2020.
Over the years, I have worked closely with children, teachers, and families to support each child’s growth at their own pace. I am especially passionate about creating collaborative, engaging, and culturally responsive learning environments where children feel secure, capable, and motivated to explore the world around them. Watching children gain independence, confidence, and joy in learning continues to inspire and humble me every day.
In addition to my work in Montessori education, I value ongoing professional growth and meaningful community connections. Outside of school, I enjoy church ministry, teaching Sunday School, and spending time with friends, often over a game of Overcooked, which I proudly take very seriously.
Director: Ms. August

My two boys are now growing out of the 1-6 year age group so it is nice to have that constant here. The conversations that I have with the kids are the most fun parts. I love how trusting they are and they can come to me about anything. I love working at AMA because it’s a very warm and welcoming place. The first day I worked here I saw teachers and kids running around at the playground, having big smiles while riding ponies and dancing in the bubbles. I know this is the working environment that I want to stay in. I feel blessed to get to come to school everyday to see the joy of learning and exploration of ingenious materials.

I have experience caring for young children, and being a mother of two has also helped me understand how different every child can be. I enjoy observing children, getting to know their personalities, and supporting them as they become more independent.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, going for walks, and exploring nature.

Hello everyone!
My name is Vicky, and I was born and raised in Beijing, China. I’m currently majoring in Education at the University of Washington. I have a deep love for the Montessori approach because it nurtures children’s independence and curiosity through hands on learning and respectful guidance.
Previously, I worked as an assistant teacher in the Bee Class, where I had the joy of supporting young children as they grow everyday. That experience was incredibly meaningful to me and further strengthened my passion for the Montessori philosophy. It gave me a deeper understanding of how thoughtfully prepared environments and gentle guidance can truly empower children.
Looking ahead, I plan to pursue formal Montessori training through the AMS. I’m excited to deepen my knowledge and continue developing as an educator.
I’m so excited to be part of the Avocado community and look forward to connecting and growing together!

My name is Aide, and I’m so excited to welcome you and your little ones to the Orca classroom for the new school year! It is truly an honor to be part of your child’s early learning journey, and I look forward to building meaningful and trusting relationships with each child and family.
I’d love to share a little about myself. I was born and raised in Orange County, California, and moved to Kirkland, Washington, in 2014. Since then, I’ve made the beautiful Pacific Northwest my home while raising my family and continuing to grow personally and professionally as an early childhood educator.
I’m a proud mom of three wonderful children—Sophia, Bryson, and Ocean. All three of my children have experienced Montessori education, which has given me a special perspective as both a Montessori parent and educator.
My Montessori journey began in 2016, when I became deeply interested in early childhood development and discovered the Montessori philosophy. I was especially drawn to its emphasis on respect, independence, purposeful learning, and following each child’s natural curiosity. Watching my own children grow and thrive in Montessori environments inspired me to pursue this work professionally.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with infants, toddlers, and young children. I’m passionate about creating a calm, nurturing, safe, and thoughtfully prepared environment where every child feels respected, valued, and encouraged to explore at their own pace.
Working with infants and toddlers holds a very special place in my heart. These early years are filled with incredible growth and discovery, and I feel honored to support children as they develop new skills, gain independence, reach important milestones, and build confidence in themselves and their environment. I believe that strong, trusting relationships are the foundation for meaningful learning.
I also value partnering closely with families. Open communication and collaboration between home and school help us provide children with the consistency, security, and encouragement they need to flourish.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy paddleboarding, camping, spending time outdoors with my family, participating in church activities, exploring farmers’ markets, traveling, and enjoying a good cup of coffee.
I’m incredibly grateful to begin this new school year with the Orca community. I look forward to getting to know each child’s unique personality, celebrating their growth, and creating many meaningful memories together.
Thank you for trusting us with your little ones. Please know that my door is always open, and I’m happy to connect with you throughout the year.

Hello! I'm Ms. Sunny, and I have been working with young children in licensed early learning programs since 2021, in both lead and assistant teaching roles with children ages one through six.
What I love most about this work is how different every child is. One child needs a quiet reminder before a transition; another needs to be given a small job so they feel useful; another simply needs an adult who won't rush them. Learning to read those differences and then actually responding to them is the part of teaching I find most rewarding.
I completed my early childhood education certificate at North Seattle College and I also speak fluent Mandarin. I believe every child arrives already being someone. My hope is to notice who that person is, and to give each child what they truly need to grow. I finish most days feeling grateful to be part of these early years.
Childhood education has been my passion for years and spending time with my classes is a very rewarding experience. I wish to grow alongside each child as both a teacher and a friend.

Hello! I’m Ms. Xiange, and I’ve always been passionate about education. After earning my bachelor’s degree, I continued this path by pursuing a Master of Education. I view education as a lifelong journey and hope to further deepen my impact through future doctoral studies.
Although my academic training is not specifically in early childhood education, my introduction to the Montessori philosophy about four years ago marked a turning point in my professional journey. Its emphasis on child-led learning, respect for individual development, and the use of purposeful materials deeply resonated with me and inspired me to focus on early childhood education. I am currently enrolled in the MEIPN Montessori Teacher Certification Program at the Infant and Toddler level and have over two years of classroom experience in early childhood settings in the United States.
As an educator, I find great joy in working with young children, valuing the mutual trust and growth in our relationships. At the toddler stage, I prioritize fostering independence as a fundamental goal. My aim is to create a safe and healthy environment that offers engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences to support each child’s fullest potential.
One of my favorite quotes from Dr. Maria Montessori is: “The greatest gifts we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.” It is a privilege to be part of each child’s journey, helping them unfold into who they are meant to become.

I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Thailand and completed my Montessori teacher training at the Montessori Teacher Preparation of Washington in 2016. Since then, I’ve had the joy of teaching in Montessori classrooms for over 8 years.
I’m deeply passionate about guiding children through their early years—watching them grow, explore, and develop a love of learning brings me so much fulfillment.
I love making learning both fun and meaningful by offering hands-on activities that
spark children’s natural curiosity, and I strive to create a classroom environment
that nurtures their independence, confidence, and joy in learning. I enjoy supporting
each child as they discover their unique interests and strengths.
Outside the classroom, I enjoy going to the park, visiting the beach, and spending time at the dog park.
I’m thrilled to be joining Avocado Montessori Academy and feel honored to be part of your child’s early learning journey. I look forward to getting to know you and working together to support your child’s growth, development, and happiness.

I am fluent in both English and Chinese, which allows me to offer children a diverse and enriching learning experience. As a mother myself, I have a deeper understanding of children’s developmental needs, which inspired me to focus on early childhood education. I aim to help young learners build a strong and loving foundation in their early years.I believe kindness and encouragement inspire a child’s love for learning. Hello! My name is Luna and I am excited to join the Avocado Montessori community! My love for working with children began in middle school, when I participated in a buddy program where I was paired with an elementary school student. That early mentorship experience inspired me to continue working with children ever since.
Most recently, I worked as an Assistant Teacher at another Montessori campus. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and I feel incredibly grateful to continue my journey here as part of this wonderful team.
What I love about Montessori is truly seeing and appreciating each child as an individual, watching them discover new things, gain confidence, and become more independent. I especially love those "aha" moments when a concept clicks for a child. I believe children thrive when given the freedom to explore, the guidance they need to grow, and an environment where they feel respected and valued. I am honored to get to know each child and help them grow into the best version of themselves!
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time outdoors swimming and paddle boarding, drawing and painting, training my dog, and singing. I look forward to bringing that same curiosity, creativity, and joy into the classroom each day!

Hi, I’m Peggy, and I’m so excited to be part of the Avocado Montessori Academy community!
I have several years of experience working in Montessori education and hold a Montessori teaching certification. I also have a background in child development psychology, which has helped me better understand how children grow, learn, and develop at each stage.
As both a Montessori educator and a mom, I truly understand how important these early years are for children and families. I believe children thrive in a warm, respectful, and nurturing environment where they feel safe to explore, build independence, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
I love observing each child, following their interests, and supporting their individual development. Building meaningful and trusting relationships with children and families is something I value deeply.

My name is Chloe and I am a 24-year-old graduate of Western Washington University, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 2024, along with an endorsement in Sociology. I have always enjoyed working with children and creating a positive, welcoming environment where they can learn and grow. Before graduating, I had the opportunity to live and work in Madrid, Spain, where I taught English. This experience allowed me to gain valuable teaching experience and work with children from different backgrounds. I am excited to bring my experience, creativity, and enthusiasm for learning into the classroom while supporting each child’s individual growth and development!

Hello! My name is June, and I am excited to be part of the Avocado Montessori community! I hold a degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Marketing.
I believe education is not about preparing the path for the child, but preparing the child for the path. To me, Montessori means trusting children—knowing when to guide, when to step back, and giving them the confidence to say, “I can do it myself.” I strive to bring patience, care, and respect to every child I work with.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading and gardening—though my plants are still working on their independence!
